Sylacauga Pediatrics

Over 2.5 hours for a general doctor appointment is unacceptable. Double stacking patients to make profits should be illegal. Unless you want to spend all day sitting at this doctor I would go somewhere else.

My four children have been going to Dr. Hardy since we moved here. The entire staff is amazing! They really will go the extra mile with a smile on their faces (I've had to unexpectedly request paperwork on multiple occasions and they're always quick too). I've only recently had longer wait times; usually it's in and out. As the spouse of a medical practitioner, I understand there's a ton of reasons why that happens and am patient because of my understanding. We've also seen Dr. Rehka and she is wonderful as well! I honestly would recommend them to anyone looking for a local pediatrician. I've never left the office feeling like I wasn't listened to, or my kids weren't, or etc. They are a very caring staff. We appreciate y'all! Edited to add: Dr. Mathis is great as well! If I could give them ten stars I would. 😊

Normally Dr.Rehka is my child’s doctor but she wasn’t here. I made my child a sick visit appointment got there and it was crowded but I ignored it because I had set an appointment was in the waiting room for a whole hour and in the midst of waiting a hour two different families come in way after me and both of those families was called back before my 10 month old who originally had a sick visit appointment set and wasn’t a walk in. So they finally call us to the back after having to say something about the wait, they took my baby height weight and temp THEN SEND US BACK IN THE WAITING ROOM to wait because they say rooms not available. I literally walked out! This is so ridiculous to have to wait a hour plus with a 10 month old to be seen, they have no regards or even give off the energy that they care. No one apologize for the inconvenience or anything! My thing is why set an appointment for someone when they STILL gonna have to wait! Dr Rehka is the only reason we are there!!

If you are lucky enough to see Dr Rehka you will love her. I have however only been able to get her for well visits. Dr Mathis is by far my least favorite. She doesn’t listen to concerns or dismisses you as the parent. Her tone is condescending. Whenever I have had to leave a note for a call back, most times unless I call many times, I won’t get that call back. It’s a shame because I have always adored this pediatrician clinic, but I can’t ignore the lack of professionalism for the sake of my son any more.

I would give zero stars. We moved four hours away and it’s been almost a month and they won’t send my daughters records! There are constant excuses. They constantly tell me they are going to call me back and DONT. Completely unprofessional when we would go there. The nurse was wearing jeans and a hoody. Put my week old daughter on the scale and left her there where she could easily fall off. Passing my newborn around to other nurses like she was a puppy without our consent! SO UNPROFESSIONAL. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE.

Three strikes and my child & I are out of there! This last visit was for my daughter's acid reflux and the nurses tried to make me use the sick entrance because my two & half month old daughter had developed a cough-no fever, no constant phlegm producing cough, or runny nose- just a dry random cough. When I tried to explain it was when she would try to spit up the nurses said reflux doesn't cause coughing. Well in that case 2 doctors and a nurse practitioner from this office lied to me. I called another doctor's office, got an appointment and guess what...the acid from her reflux was coming back up and triggering her gag reflex causing her to cough, gag, and have temporary mucus in her nose. Before this incident my child's 2 month vaccinations were put off because Dr Rekha wanted to be present for them. When the day came for vaccinations Dr Rekha wasn't in the office. So my daughter's vaccinations were postponed for nothing. I also basically had to beg for a Tylenol dosing sheet since it's not in the box of Tylenol drops for children.

I heard the doctor was the best so the first time I sat and waited for a well visit for 2 1/2 hours with a infant and young child. Doctor was average for my experience. Was told that was not normal to have to wait that long. The next well visit we waited 4 hours with a hungry child and tired cranky baby. Then 3 days later both kids were sick from having to sit and wait with all the sick people. They have separate buildings, but do not enforce. Will never go back!

Very slow. Even if you have an appointment and are first appointment of the day, you’ll be waiting a very long time to be seen. One of my children was also recently seen and the doctor almost forgot to check her ears. Turns out she had an ear infection too.
